Learn the fundamentals of Close Quarters Battle (CQB) in a structured and safe environment. This introductory course is designed for individuals and teams from civilian, law enforcement, and military backgrounds seeking to develop tactical skills for confined space engagements.

Course Overview

Our CQB curriculum is based on lessons learned by Special Operations Forces during the Global War on Terror. You'll learn tactics, techniques, and procedures refined from real-world experience to create an outcome-based learning experience. This course is run dry in a CQB shoot house, focusing on movement, weapon handling, and communication in confined environments.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the principles of CQB and its tactical applications

  • Develop proficiency in movement, weapon handling, and communication in confined spaces

  • Practice individual and team-based entry, room clearing, and threat neutralization

  • Apply safety protocols and de-escalation techniques for home invasion scenarios

Course Outline

The course is divided into five modules:

  1. Fundamentals of CQB: Principles of CQB, legal and ethical considerations, safety procedures, and gear overview

  2. Movement Techniques: Stances, body positioning, weapon retention, individual movement in confined spaces, and use of cover and concealment

  3. Weapon Handling: Safe weapon management, transitioning between firearms, and engagement protocols

  4. Team Tactics: Communication and signals, entry techniques, room clearing, hallway movement, and dealing with hostages and non-combatants

  5. Scenario-Based Training: Simulated threat engagements, after-action reviews, and feedback

Recommended Equipment

  • Protective gear (eye protection, gloves, body armor)

  • Dry Carbine (bolt removed prior to class) and holstered sidearm with slide locked back/no mag

  • Battle belt or duty rig (recommended but not mandatory)

  • Flashlight, water, food, durable footwear, and clothing

Safety Note

This course is run dry, and all firearms will be rendered inert before use. Emphasis is placed on safety protocols and de-escalation techniques to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
